Saturday 12 May 2012 ~ Topeka to Kansas City, Kansas/Missouri
I forgot my camera this weekend, or to put it more accurately, I forgot to take pictures. Which was unfortunate because we had a fantastic time in Kansas City. We stayed at the Kirmayer Fitness Center on the campus of KUMC. A you can see from the picture below, we were slightly cramped.
KC was surprisingly refreshing and enjoyable. The first evening we went to an obligatory barbecue joint to experience the famous Kansan specialty (but according to a good friend, the location, or rather chain, that we patronized was like the fast food of KC's barbecue scene). I still thought it was good though. Never been to a barbecue restaurant before, and boy was it an experience. Apparently, some friends think I do a spot-on impression of the large lady behind the ordering counter: "Hi, may I help you?"

'Twas a beautiful Sunday. Went to church with Blair and Amanda, had an excellent lunch with Lisa, Jess, Laura, and Brock at Po's Dumpling Bar (been craving some authentic Asian food!), did laundry at the local laundromat (becoming quite comfortable with random laundromats), had Chipotle chips and salsa before enjoying Starbuck's last day of happy hour half-price frappuccinos (got my favorite, venti caramel frappuccino with extra caramel drizzle), went to the movies to see Marvel's The Avengers (I'm a sucker for super hero pics), and ended the day at an Indian restaurant but forgot the name of the place ... 'Twas a great Sunday for sure.
