I had gained the summit of a commanding ridge, and, looking round with astonishing delight, beheld the ample plains, the beauteous tracts below.

Wednesday 09 May 2012 ~ Ness City to Lyons, Kansas
If one is curious about the scenery of today's ride, please visit the previous post. I may need to break out the iPod soon because I do not share Mr. Boone's "astonishing delight" concerning the "ample plains." On a more positive note, the somewhat absence of wind made today's ride much more bearable than the one on Sunday.
Rest Stop #1: Historical Marker. Highway 96 is turning out to be a treasure trove of American history.
Lyons High School, our lodgings for the night.
I'll give you one guess as to what the mascot of this high school is. That's right, they're the Lyons Lions, pronounced lie-ahns lie-ahns.

Well, that's it for today, short post. As always, nice to be connected. Lyons is actually a decent sized town. We all went to a Dairy Queen after dinner to feast on their Blizzards. Two food items I've developed a craving for on this trip: sodas, especially Barq's root beer, and cold desserts be it popsicles, ice cream, slushies, you name it.
